An unbelievably exciting project to make. This "guitar-lesson" film proved to be a lot more fun to produce than we could have imagined.
We went for a more cinematic look than you would usually find in guitar videos. The viking theme was an obvious choice, Heri being one of the leading members in the metal band 'TÝR'.
The "long table scene" still ranks as one of our absolute favorite shots to date.

The intro was always going to be the most challenging part of the production. We had to create the mood and style within a very short time frame, so it was absolutely crucial that we had a solid storyboard. During filming we realized that not all the shots were necessary and were only going to slow things down.
We chose 'Kirkjubøargarður' as our primary location to film in. This old farm is one of the best preserved houses in the Faroe Islands(perhaps even in the world) and dates back to the 11th century, and has been in the 'Patursson' family since the fifteen-hundreds. Without their hospitality this project would have been impossible.
Getting all the necessary props was very fun. With a lot of good help from folks such as Durita Dahl Djurhuus and Anna Louisa Joensen we managed to get everything we needed and then some.
For the table scene we had to build a custom rig for the DJI Ronin and do extensive testing to get it just right.
We needed the perfect picture to illustrate the core of Heri's inspiration to 'The Lay of our Love', which was the folk ballad 'Blackman Konga'. We were fortunate that our dear friend Jóannes Lamhauge who also worked on the storyboard for the intro had the time to make us this illustration of the faroese chain-dance, which is danced when you sing faroese folk ballads also known as "kvæði". Nobody else could have drawn it like he did, as we wanted a very specific "height" in the illustration.
